Texas Fly Fishers August Monthly Meeting

Summer Mini-Expo

August 25th, 2009

Bayland Community Center

6400 Bissonet St.

Houston, TX

Join us as we show off our club’s talents and exploits in a miniature expo style. This is a meeting you don’t want to miss. We have tables at our regular monthly meeting location featuring fly tying, rod building, knot tying and leader building, casting demonstration and clinic, fishing trip presentations.

Fly tiers include:

Mike Arnold, Don Puckett, Ray Russ – Bream & Bass flies John Carpenter, Chris Sumers – Saltwater flies Brent Ewald, Mark Marmon – Trout flies

Rod building table will be presented by Joe Nicklo

Casting demonstration and clinic will be presented by David Lemke and Harry Crofton

Swap table will get its debut to our monthly lineup and will be lead by Bear Auger

Fishing Trip presentations (20 minutes each) will be presented by:

David Lemke – Wind River Wyoming, Bighorn River, Montana

Martin Weir – Guadalupe River fly fishing

vDub Hamilton – An Alaskan Salmon fishing adventure

Harry Crofton – Fishing in Iceland

Woody Vogt – South Platte River, Colorado

Our only imported talent will be at the knot tying and leader building table. Paul “Sodie” Sodamann of Flatlanders Guide Service in Kansas will be available to teach his extremely simplified method of tying furled leaders. He calls it “Doing the Twist”. There will also be food trays and soft drinks available.

Raffle tickets will be sold “Buy one, get one free”
