Bob started “officially” to fly fish 12 years ago when he bought a 6 weight combo kit, the LL Bean Guide to Fly Fishing and a Steve Pobrasco Fly Tying Kit from a small fishing store in Metairie, Louisiana.
Shortly afterward, just as he was about to “give it up”, he caught a Lady Fish in Oso Bay in Corpus Christi which was the inspiration to learn how to fly cast, tie flies and passionately share what he has learned with others!
Bob was previously a member Alamo Fly Fishers in San Antonio until 2007 when a career change into the fixed-income securities industry moved him and his family to Houston where he enjoys living in Katy near one of his favorite stores, The Bass Pro White River Fly Shop in Katy Mills!
He currently works there on the weekends as one of the primary outfitters as well as the store’s fly casting and fly tying instructor. In addition, Bob also provides private fly casting and fly tying instruction for busy professionals in his spare time. Bob currently serves as the Communications Chair for Texas Fly Fishers and will be taking up the position of Public Relations for Federation of Fly Fishers – Southern Council for the coming term.
Bob and his wife, Nancy Ruth claim fishing as a “lifestyle” and enjoy fresh and saltwater quarries for all species! Their latest fishing adventure was participating as a “two-man boat team” at the World Bass Fly Fishing Tournament in Lake Fork on May 8th.
