maintain accurate financial records, handle all financial affairs, render a monthly report of the financial affairs of the organization, and prepare and submit such other financial reports as required
As the club Treasurer it is my responsiblity to facilitate the development of a budget and then monitor the clubs spending against that budget. The Club Constitution and By-laws assigns the following specific 'reponsibilities' to the Treasurer (excerpted from Article IV - Officers):
Treasurer - shall maintain accurate financial records, handle all financial affairs, render a monthly report of the financial affairs of the organization, and prepare and submit such other financial reports as the President may require. A formal summary of the year's financial activities will be reported at the June Executive Committee meeting and published to the membership. The Treasurer shall act as Secretary (and remain Treasurer) in the absence or resignation of the Secretary until a special election is held (see paragraph B). The President shall act as Treasurer in the absence or resignation of the Treasurer until a special election is held (see paragraph B).
I have been formally involved with Texas FlyFishers since 2003. An outings trip to a stock pond near Cat Spring that year, to which I had been invited as a guest, convinced me to join the club. When Jerry asked me to lead the Freshwater Outings it wasn't a difficult decision. And my recent election as Treasurer will allow me to continue to give back to the club.
Involved in fly fishing and tying since taking introductory courses at Jones Tackle in Brisbane, Australia over twelve years ago, I am a Federation of Fly Fishers Certified Casting Instructor. I provide personalized group and individual casting instruction and have assisted with classes at Bass Pro. In addition to being Treasurer I stay busy as the Freshwater Outings Chair, the Website Design and Content Editor, and assisting with the club casting program. This year I was the Program Co-Chair for the FFF Gulf Coast Council Expo in Lake Charles.
I like to fish and have had a lot of great opportunities because of work and friends. I have fished chalk streams in England, isolated tarns in Wales, small mountain streams for ‘thousands of brothers’ in the Norwegian Telemark, the spectacular Grenlæker in South-Central Iceland for giant artic char, remote lakes in the Orkneys for browns, the Danish ‘sea trout Eldorado’ coastline of Funen, the Irish Bandon for sea trout, the central north island region in New Zealand, the Australian Blue Mountains, Queensland’s unending coastline, and remote streams near Batumi, Georgia but I still look for every opportunity to cast a Miss Prissy for ‘guads’ on the Llano in central Texas.
